Sunday morning dawned bright and clear
and Catriona was to be found with 2 pints of coffee, a pen and a pad,
at the kitchen table with Peter giving her final pointers on the Swedish
way of doing things. Little did she know that a major conspiracy was
going down! Jim and Morag Hay (Tralay) were in Sweden, and were planning
a little surprise for her! they had in fact been at the show the day
before but had kept out of her sight. Kevan and I were sworn to secrecy,
and Peter is much bigger than us, and we were staying at his house.
Everyone knew what was going to happen, except Catriona, as Peter had
put details on his Swedish Website in Swedish.
Off we go to the show, about 30 minutes
drive, no dogs this time as Peter is Secretary of the Club, and was
also stewarding. Wonderful venue, by a large lake, surrounded by forest.
There was a campsite there with permanent chalets. Jim and Morag had
stayed in one of these the night before. Catriona is ready to start,
and Peter introduces her in Swedish, reminding everyone of the little
surprise. There is general laughter, but Catriona still knows nothing.
First class is Puppy Dog (4 to 6 months) and there in the line up is
a strange looking bloke with a base ball cap, and thick horn rimmed
glasses. Catriona walks towards the dog he is standing, looks at the
dog next to it, then goes back, at which point the strange looking bloke
says "Great dogs they have over here" in a broad Scots accent.
Well here is a picture of the reaction.

Catriona, once she had calmed down, got on with the
task in hand. She had an excellent entry of 80 dogs, and she judged them
efficiently and professionally. She said that she thoroughly enjoyed her
day. She found her Best in Show in NuCh Barecho Zuper Diva, and Reserve
in Granny's Albin. Her Best Puppy (4 to 6 months) was Qvarnhill Tartan
Titbit, and Best Puppy (6 to 9 mnths) was Barecho Face the Fact.
