Winsie came to us from Doug and Jean
Sheppard in May 1989. She was from the world renowned Cliffhill
Kennel. A grand daughter of Ch Cliffhill Julius on both sides, her mother
was a half working bitch from the Gwinbernant and Macsiccar lines. Winsie
was a dog of exceptional temperament, an intelligent and a very laid
back attitude to life. It is on these qualities that we have founded
our kennel.
Winsie was never the one to campaign in the show ring, but her working
ability was exceptional. In the days when we were totally new to the
shooting field she and Kevan would go off every Saturday in the season
and come home having had a perfect day. Winsie knew more about the game
than either of us, and it is through her that we have grown to love
the sport, and appreciate the honour of handling a really good dog.
Winsie was mated to Sh Ch Wardhill Whistling Miller, and gave us Ernie
and Poppet, for which we shall be eternally grateful.
Winsie sadly left us on the 20th September
2001. To say that we miss her is an understatement. Every dog that we
have in the kennel we owe to her, the many friends that we have made
both at home and overseas we owe to her. The hours and hours of fun
that we have both showing, working, and just looking after our dogs
we owe to her. Without Winsie there would be no Canouan Kennel - Thank
you Winsie.
