The story of "Entente Cordiale" and a "Cadillac"
Naturally I had discussed this mating with my Viking friend Peter Olsson (Kennel Qvarnhill - Sweden). He was very impressed when he saw the pedigree and the pictures of Urluberlue. He was very very keen to have a dog to take to Sweden. Then with the pups being born on his birthday, another spooky coincidence, it was almost a foregone conclusion.. ( I did not know that you were born on the Ides of March Peter. That explains a lot about you!) There was also the possibility of a black and white and he was booking the trip to France.
In the meantine however there was the French National Spaniel Breeding Show - The Nationale d'Elevage run by the Spaniel Club Francais is the premiere show for all types of Spaniel. Akin to our English Springer Spaniel Club Championship Show where the best of the best are paraded on the carpet. I had entered Pomo and Paula, so under "la manche" again, and a long drive to Montlucon to meet with Thierry Bossuet and take our chances in the show ring.
Pomo won the Open Class and was awarded the RCACS.
Thierry and Tip Top d'Atoll de Kerguelen won the Working Class and were awarded the CACS. We could not have been beaten by a nicer person.
Tip Top already has his qualification for the Champion de France in the show ring, so the qualification passes to Pomo. This boy must now gain his qualification at a Field Trial. If previous experience is anything to go by he will thoroughly enjoy the training.
Paula was graded Excellent and awarded second in the Open Bitch Class. Well done Pomo and Paula

For the next few weeks the email between France, England and Sweden was red hot with pictures of the little ones, and finally Peter and I met at Gatwick Airport to take the flight to Bordeaux together.
We had a wonderful evening, excellent hospitality from a like minded French breeder. We were hard pressed to choose between the puppies but finally settled on a black and white bitch for me, and a black and white dog for Peter. Not only were we able to see the puppies and Urluberlue, but also three generations of the springer family of the L'Elevage d'Atoll de Kergulen which can be viewed at Thierry and Sandrine's Website.
Here are the latest editions to that family that will be taking the trip to England and Sweden:
Entente Cordiale d'Atoll de Kerguelen avec Canouan
Cadillac d'Atoll de Kerguelen
The two pups will now move to Kennel Qvarnhill in Sweden where Peter will take care of Tina until she can come to the UK. She must wait out the qualifying time for the Pet Passport before she can be brought to this country. We are expecting this to be January 2007. I shall be searching for cheap flights to Stockhom so that I can visit her during this time.
Finally - as a footnote - Thierry tells me that this is the first time that a springer spaniel has been exported from France to England. That is a big responsibility for those little black and white paws to carry.

Here is Tina aged five weeks with her first pigeon. Looks a very promising Canouan Dual Purpose English Springer Spaniel.
